Speaking to China Daily, Fanjun explained that his elder brother was the first to leave, and he followed later. Their adoptive mother experienced bouts of illness possibly caused by the heartache of being apart from her children. Fanjun also realized that life in Japan wasn’t at all how he expected it to be.
