Richard Joseph Durbin is serving as the senior senator for United States from Illinois. Richard has held his seat since 1997 and it is his fifth Senate term. The American politician and lawyer enjoys living in the public eye and chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee whereas his wife, Loretta Schaefer Durbin has a completely opposite view on life and enjoys a much lower profile.

Schaefer started as an assistant before becoming a part of the lobbying business. The couple tied the knot in 1967 and have three beautiful children Christine, Paul and Jennifer. Their son Christine passed away in 2008 at the age of 40 due to a heart condition.
