Gary Lineker was a professional footballer before he retired in 1994. Born in Leicester, he started his career with Leicester City. He is one of the greatest English strikers and is FIFA’s highest goal scorer in the World Cup finals.
Lineker later became a sports broadcaster with the BBC, where he has presented “Match of the Day” since the late ’90s. He has the longest run of any presenter on the show and despite pay cuts, he’s still the highest earner at BBC with a £2-million salary. Lineker appeared in the American football comedy TV series, “Ted Lasso” in 2021.
