The Heartbreaking Story of a Child Who Thought of An Ingenious Way To Get Adopted
‘Period of Regression’
As a new family member, George had undergone what Tony described as a “period of regression.” As young as he was, he became a “mother” and “father” to a toy baby that he called John. The boy clothed, bathed, and even talked to the inanimate object.
However, John would suddenly be kept and forgotten under the bed. This, Tony believed, was a reenactment of what had happened to George. According to BC Adoption, regression is common for adoptees after placement, which is why they all the more need care, safety, and consistency.
