Sidney Poitier (Born In 1927)
Actor and film director, Sidney Poitier won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1964 and became the first black person to do that. He is Bahamian-American and is known for his work in films like, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” “In the Heat of the Night” and “Lilies of the Field.”
In 2020, Poitier became the oldest living and earliest surviving Best Actor Oscar winner. He has retired from the acting world but was seen in the 2021 documentary, “Wolfgang.” Apart from acting. He also served as the Bahamian Ambassador to Japan in the ’90s.
