Behind The Face Of An Angel: Audrey Hepburn’s Success & Secret Past

She Became A UNICEF Ambassador

As a child, Audrey saw many atrocities that only began to make sense as she grew older. During the recovery period after the Nazis were defeated, she and her family received much-needed aid from UNICEF. Audrey always felt guilty for surviving the war when so many people like Anne had their lives taken from them.

To repay the debt she felt she owed to the victims of the Nazis and to UNICEF, Audrey became an ambassador for the organization. For 38 years, she went on tours to raise awareness of human suffering around the world and fundraise for UNICEF and its affiliated charities.
