Pauline Collins – Born in 1940, Exmouth

Pauline Collins is best known for her role as Sarah Moffat in the British television series “Upstairs, Downstairs,” for which she was nominated for a BAFTA Award and won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress and the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in the title role of “Shirley Valentine,” a play she later reprised in the 1989 film adaptation.

In 1969, Collins tied the knot with actor John Alderton, and they have since been living in Hampstead, London, with their three children: Nicholas, Kate, and Richard.
