Eileen Atkins – Born in 1934, London
Eileen Atkins is a highly acclaimed English actress, screenwriter, and three-time Olivier Award winner. Since 1953, she has consistently worked in theatre, film, and television. In 2008, she won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress and the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role in “Cranford.” Atkins also won Best Supporting Performance in 1988 and Best Actress for “The Unexpected Man” and “Honour.”
In 1952, Atkins joined the Guild Players Repertory Company in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland, as a professional actress. That same year, she performed the nurse role in “Harvey” at the Repertory Theatre in Bangor.
