Malcolm Hebden – Norris Cole from Coronation Street
Malcolm Hebden may not have spent as much time on the cobbles as Barbara Knox and William Roache, but he’s lasted longer than many others. After all, 27 years is nothing to scoff at. When he first joined the show in 1974, he acted as Thelma Barlow’s Spanish boyfriend ‘Carlos.’
He returned in 1994, embodying a completely different character. And he faired much better playing the eccentric ‘Norris Cole’ who couldn’t keep his nose out of people’s business. He also won the Best Onscreen Partnership award alongside Barbara Knox at the 2006 British SoapAwards. Hebden made his final appearance in 2020 before announcing his retirement from acting the following year.
