Jo Brand lost seven stone (98 pounds) in 1995 when she was in her late 30s. The British entertainer decided to lose weight due to health reasons. At first, she focused on changing her diet and increasing her exercise regime. She started eating smaller portions and cutting down on junk food. She then switched from regular soda to diet and snacked on fruits instead.
Brand also decided to walk more often and went to the gym. She even attended a slimming class, which taught her about portion control and included cooking lessons. She also continued to work out with a personal trainer.
